What is a double-drop flatbed trailer?
Also designed to carry taller freight, and similar to a step deck trailer, a double drop (or low boy) differs in that its lower deck drops below the trailer’s axles. This creates what is known as the “well” between its neck (the portion of the trailer attached to the truck) and the first axle of the trailer. Double drops mainly come in two types: fixed neck and removable gooseneck (RGN), with the latter having a neck that can be removed from the trailer for different loading/unloading purposes. Use a double drop trailer when shipping over dimensional freight (such as construction machinery or heavy equipment) that cannot be accommodated on a standard flatbed or step deck. Dimensions of the upper decks will vary depending on the trailer used, so contact us to get connected with the right equipment.
